• 30: Starbase 2 is commissioned by the Coalition of Planets in orbit of Vulcan. It will be destroyed (along with the planet) in 2258, and replaced three years later.

May

• 23: The United Rigel Colonies join the Coalition of Planets after having backed out four years earlier.

June

• 14: Starbase 3 is commissioned by the Coalition of Planets in the Vestian System. It is Starfleet's first deep space facility.

July

• 10: Starbase 4 is commissioned by the Coalition of Planets. It lies within a light-year of Mab-bu.

October

• 8: Starbase 5 is commissioned by the Coalition of Planets in defensive orbit around Coridan, despite that world's status as a non-member.
